In the period from November 1980 to March
1982, a questionnaire was mailed to the 5867 pairs of twins over the age of
eighteen registered with the ATR. Of this number, 3808 completed pairs (7616
twins) were returned. This study was conducted by John Matthews who was based
in the University of Melbourne and Nick Martin who based at the ANU in Canberra where the data management was carried out.
The questionnaire asked about:
- Twinning
- General Information (marital status, parity,
education, occupation, religion)
- Lifestyle & Health (smoking, drinking,
disease checklist, sleep patterns)
- Reproductive History (women only)
- Feelings
- Personality (Eyesenck Personality
Questionnaire)
- Attitudes
