I'm based at the QIMR Berghofer Medical Research Institute, Brisbane, Australia.
I graduated in Biology from the University of Lisbon (Portugal) and University of Oxford (UK) in 2001. My earlier work was on Animal Behavior and Conservation. I then did my PhD in Human Genetics with Nick Martin and David Duffy at the University of Queensland (Australia, 2002-2006) and a post-doc with Shaun Purcell at Harvard University (USA, 2006-2008).
The main focus of my research is asthma genetics. Specifically, I'm interested in identifying new drug targets and biomarkers for asthma through genetic and genomic studies.
