General Information

Location: QIMR Berghofer Medical Research Institute
QIMR Berghofer is located at 300 Herston Rd, Herston, QLD 4006 between the old Royal Children’s Hospital site and Bowen Bridge Road (google map)
The Institute was established in 1945 by the Queensland Government, QIMR Berghofer (formerly the Queensland Institute of Medical Research) is a world leading translational research institute focused on cancer, infectious diseases, mental health and a range of complex diseases.

The Institute occupies three buildings: the Bancroft Centre, QIMR Berghofer Central, and Clive Berghofer Cancer Research Centre. The main entrance and reception where the Registration desk will be located is the QIMR Berghofer Central building.

Car parking
Parking facilities are limited around the hospital precinct. The nearest parking complex is the Cornerstone Parking station (formerly Wilson Parking), opposite the Clive Berghofer Cancer Research Centre on Herston Road. Public Transport
Taxi: A taxi zone is located directly outside the Institute on Herston Road. The phone numbers for the two taxi companies in Brisbane are Black & Whites Cabs (13 32 22) and Yellow Cabs (13 19 24).

Train: Bowen Hills or Brunswick Street (Fortitude Valley) train stations are a 20-minute walk from the Institute.

Bus: The nearest bus stop is Herston Station on the Northern Busway, which is directly across the road from the Institute. The Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital (RBWH) Station on the Northern Busway is a 10-minute walk from our entrance.
If your hotel is located in the South Bank area, take a bus from the Cultural Centre (Platform 2) to the Herston Station stop (Bus numbers 66, 330 and 333 all travel this route). The bus trip will cost $4.80 if you do not have a Go-card
If your hotel is located in the City, take a bus from the King George Square (Outbound) to the Herston Station stop (Bus numbers 66, 330, 333 and 340 all travel this route). The bus trip will cost $4.80 if you do not have a Go-card

Your official Conference name badge must be worn at all times.

Smoking Policy
QIMR Berghofer is a non smoking venue.

Fees and Entitlements
All registration fees are in Australian dollars and are inclusive of Goods and Services Tax (GST).

Acknowledgement of Registration
All registrations will be acknowledged in writing upon receipt of completed registration form and full payment.

Lunch, morning and afternoon teas will be provided.
Every effort is made to ensure people with special dietary requirements are catered for.

Accommodation is not included in the registration fee. Accommodation must be arranged by the delegate. Please refer to the Venues/Accommodation pages on the conference web page.

Insurance and Liability
Registration fees do not include personal, travel or health insurance. The Conference Organisers do not take any responsibility for any delegate failing to insure.

Although it will technically be winter the temperature will still be very warm during the day. Make sure to bring something warm for the evening.

Australia uses 240V current. You will also need a powerpoint (outlet) adapter.

We would recommend an area called South Bank - this suburb is home to the major art and science museums, the state library, performing arts centre and a large open parkland with a free man-made beach.
